| Outcome | Air leaks, fill tube, heater, sensor, and ice-maker operation evaluated |
What frost around the ice maker indicates
Frost is often caused by warm, moist air entering the compartment, a door or chute that does not seal, a leaking fill valve, a frozen fill tube, or a defrost problem in the ice room.
What gets tested
A complete diagnosis checks freezer temperature, door and chute seals, water pressure, valve seepage, fill-tube condition, ice-maker heater or thermistor readings, and any stored error codes.
Avoid forcing the mechanism
Do not chip ice with a knife or force the ejector arms. Plastic housings, refrigerant lines, and wiring can be damaged, turning a manageable ice-maker problem into a larger repair.
